Some Football Betting Terms
I thought I’d kick things off with the terms used in football bets.
Stake The stake is the amount you place on a bet, in other words the amount of money you stand to lose if you do not win.
Accumulator – A football accumulation is a sequence of single bets , grouped together. If each of the bets comes off then the odds add up. If you have heard of people placing a fiver on something, and then winning a couple of thousand dollars, it’s due to accumulations. Since each bet must win , even though they may be risky.
Handicap – This is a type of bet which is available when one team is clearly the favourite Consider Brazil vs your local old boys team! The handicap provides a slight disadvantage to the underdog. For instance, there could be a one-goal head-start given to the underdog. I am going to explain Handicapping more in the next article.
Half Time/Full Time Full Time/Half Time bet is divided in two parts, where you can predict who will win in the first half and the final game. You could therefore predict the half-time score to be 0-0 but you to predict that the team on home will prevail in full time.
The Banker is the closet thing to a certainty as you can get, the tipster is very certain that bets will land if they consider it as a banker. In this case, we offer banker tips to our members.
Scorecast – This is where you bet on a team for scoring their first goal, along with predicting the exact score.
Wincast is very similar to a scorecast but you bet on the player to score , and then you predict the winner of the game.
90 Minute Betting – This is mentioned often when betting on specific players (maybe for goal-scorers) normally if the player does not show up, the bet is cancelled however if the player is present during the normal 90 minutes of the match, they’re eligible for the bet.
24 Hour Rule: Most betting websites have a rule similar to this, wherein if it is decided to postpone a match, the bet only becomes void should the match not be played within a 24 hour period. For instance, if a match was just delayed for 2 hours, the bet will still be valid.
Over/Under – Overs and Unders are betting on the amount of goals being scored, generally, it’s either between or below a certain amount such as over 2.5 means if there are at least 3 goals. Under 2.5 is either 0,1 or two goals scored.
DNB It stands to mean Draw No Bet. It means that if the result is a draw, you are able to get back the money you bet in exchange for your bet. This can be seen as a safer option but you must realize that odds are generally less when you select this option.
Double Chance – A Double Chance bet is one where you pick a winner . if they win OR it’s a draw you will win the bet. In the event that your team chose loses then you lose the bet. Similar to DNB the odds are usually less, but it’s the safer option due to this.
Bankroll – the amount you’re required to wager. We’ve written more about what the bankroll is.
Handicaps
Handicaps were a subject that frightened me for quite a while which is why I would like to spend some time looking at them in detail. This is such a common issue that I’ve written up a guide to the Asian and European handicapping.
Accumulators Vs Singles
These are the two most commonly used methods for placing bets nowadays, and I decided to explore the two in more particularity. We don’t hide that fact that Ian prefers singles, but that doesn’t help you if you don’t know the main difference.
If you place a bet on an accumulator, all your wagers must be successful in order to be able to claim the money. This makes it much harder to win but of course the payout is much higher. As a novice football bettor, it’s tempting to bet on accumulators as you might see your PS10 stake grow into huge money pretty quickly.
Singles on the other side aren’t affected by other betting options. Thus, if I make PS10 on three different matches as singles , and two of them win and I win, then I earn money with those two bets. The odds won’t be as high If I were to roll up all my bets into an accumulator. However, the odds of me making some money are higher.
The primary point here is to discover what works best for you. While some swear by accumulators and others swear by singles doesn’t mean that you must follow the most popular voice. Do some research, maybe put some small stakes on several different options and check out what felt right and what yielded a positive ROI.
Finding your way through the bookies
What you’ll come across as you start betting on football is a wide variety of bookmakers, both offline and online. Every เว็บแทงบอลที่ดีที่สุด will have their particular way of dealing with things , and they will each want you to interact with them in a different way. It’s not easy, but we’ve written up an outline of what to look for and how to state your case if you feel the book maker has mistreated you.
Most commonly accepted, good tips
A guide to football betting could not be complete without sharing some good tips! Here are some generally accepted and useful tips I’ve gathered from my studies and through interviews with football experts!
Do not bet with your heart, bet with your head
Don’t bet just because you want a team to win, bet because you think they will triumph!
Do not bet on teams you don’t like just because you don’t like them, bet against them because believe they will lose.
Be careful not to be too greedy
There are two things that I have caught myself doing related to being greedy, the first is adding extra teams into an accumulator just because it could increase my maximum amount of money. This is usually the worst idea!
Another thing I’ve done is put more money on a particular team that I originally intended to. You should have a plan for how much you are planning to bet, and then stick to it.
Do not be impatient
There is no guarantee that you will get every win, but if you want to become successful in betting on football, you need to be cautious and select the best bets for your needs.
Never bet more money than you can afford to lose.
Before placing a bet, I usually think about the amount of money that I’m likely to be placing on it. I then consider in the event that I had to lose this money today, could I accept the loss. If the answer is no, I will not place the bet.
Ask for help if football betting is becoming a problem
If you believe that gambling could be becoming an issue for you, my suggestion is to seek assistance. GambleAware might be worth a visit!
Don’t put your money on friendly teams
They’re unpredictable, you don’t know how much effort each team is working hard and reserve players may get an injury which you weren’t expecting.
If the friendly matches are scheduled prior to the beginning of a new season (they usually occur before the start of a new season) the players are very conscient of not sustaining any injuries , and thus may not play as hard like they normally do.
Know Team Motivation
What I am referring to is that two teams may look a certain way on paper, but when one team is already a winner of the league, and the other is fighting for a place in the league there’s a great chance that the team that looks good in paper will be on autopilot while the team trying to stay out of relegation is going to be fighting for their lives!
